Antioch, CA — The Malicious Monster Truck Insanity Tour paid their annual visit to Antioch Speedway last Friday and Saturday night and delighted the crowd with two outstanding shows.
From the moment the pit party starts, all the way to the final Monster Truck performance, the crowd was entertained. The pit party gave the fans an opportunity to have a unique experience. They could ride along in a Monster Truck.
This year, the group brought three ride along trucks, and all were active on both nights. Fans had their choice of the Identity Theft, Sapphire or Dogee trucks. Some even elected to get a ride on more than one truck.
When Dallas gets on the microphone to start the show, it really gets going. He is one of the more entertaining and engaging announcers in the business. After the countdown, Rockstar, Napa Auto Care, Identity Theft, Spitfire and The California Kid roared to life to give the crowd just a taste of what was to come.
This show is well paced and the fans aren’t given a chance to get bored. Even at intermission, there’s more ride alongs in the trucks and giveaways to the fans. They also get a visit from Megasaurus. The fire breathing monster devours a helpless car to the amazement of the crowd. It’s a scene you have to see to believe.
Things really heat up during the one on one competition segment, which gets the crowd going for the freestyle event that closes things out. It seems like Spitfire got people’s attention on Friday night with a stellar performance. Spitfire appeared to have the farthest jump and also won the competition segment.
However, the night closed with Rockstar. The fans didn’t get to see this popular monster truck last year, but it made up for it with an all-out performance to close the opening night. In the process of doing a front wheel stand, which is something Rockstar executes with ease, the truck ended up on its roof to the roar of the crowd.
After totaling the points, Rockstar scored the win on Friday night. The crowd was pleased, though there were a few fans who seemed to be more impressed with the performance of Spitfire, the dragon themed truck.
When it comes to air time, it didn’t seem like any of the trucks got as high in the air as Identity Theft. It’s the biggest of the trucks, but that certainly doesn’t stop it from flying high. The California Kid led off both nights and showed off one of its specialty moves, the rear wheel stand.
The nights end with more ride alongs. And it seems like more people are interested in getting rides after watching the thrilling show. The Monster Trucks are definitely a spectacle to behold, and the fans were eager this year. The Friday night crowd was much bigger than last year’s Friday show, and an even bigger crowd attended the Saturday night finale.

The five trucks were ready to go on Saturday and gave their all from start to finish. Identity Theft and Cali Kid set the bar high, but Rockstar is always ready to go even higher. The truck attacked all of the jumps and easily executed front wheel and rear wheel stands.
After Rockstar’s impressive performance was done, the truck headed for the pits reminiscent of a walk-off home run at a baseball game. The crowd was entertained and the show was over. All that was left to do was ride alongs for the fans and a visit to the souvenir stand on the way out. Next year, the Monster Trucks will be back to do it again.
Racing will continue at Antioch Speedway next Saturday night with the Sixth Annual Hall of Fame night. Initially, this was to be a Friday and Saturday night event, but management elected to keep it at one night. The six division offering will include the IMCA Sport Modifieds, Pacific Coast Hobby Stocks, Wingless Spec Sprints, IMCA Stock Cars, Mini Stocks and Dwarf Cars.
Among the 10 people set to be inducted into the Hall of Fame are 1973 Sportsman champion Larry Schlee, car owner Rich Richards, two-time Street Stock champion Troy Shirk, Sportsman and Late Model star Buzz Enea and Street Stock legend Duane Hodges.
Point racing is just about ready to end, so these final events are very important to some of the close championship battles. For further information, go to www.raceantiochspeedway.com or check out the Antioch Speedway by PROmotions Facebook page.
