Richmond Police Arrest 5 With Guns, Cash and Drugs

The Richmond Police Department reports five people were arrested after police stopped for a suspicious vehicle blocking a driveway.

According to police, on Wednesday, September 11th, at approximately 6:30 PM during a regular patrol in the area of Kelsey Ave. and Duboce Ave., officers identified a suspicious vehicle that was parked blocking the sidewalk of a residence. Upon seeing the police, all occupants in the vehicle exited the vehicle and attempted to walk away. Officers detained the subjects and developed probable cause to search the vehicle.

The search resulted in finding two loaded handguns, one of which was reported stolen from San Francisco. All five subjects were arrested as no subject claimed ownership of the handguns. Two of the five arrestees are on parole.

As a proactive follow-up, on Thursday, September 12th, at approximately 6:00 PM, the same group of officers returned to the location, obtaining a search warrant for the residence. Occupants were detained to conduct the search with the assistance of K-9 Mako, who is certified in the detection of firearms and ammunition. Inside the residence, officers and K-9 Mako located a loaded handgun, heroin, ecstasy, cocaine, and marijuana (estimated street value: over $40,000.)
