Updated: Police Say Man Shot Thursday Night in Brentwood

The Brentwood Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one male wounded Thursday night.

According to police, on September 19, 2024 at approximately 8:44 p.m., Brentwood officers responded to the area of Sand Creek Road near Stony Creek Drive for a reported shooting.

When officers arrived, they located an adult male victim who had been shot one time in the abdomen. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment and is expected to survive.

After speaking to the victim and witnesses in the area, a suspect was identified and multiple people were detained as part of the investigation.

According to believe, they said this was an isolated incident with no apparent threat to public safety and the motive for the shooting is still under investigation.

This remains an ongoing investigation and no additional information is being released at this time.

SHOOTING INVESTIGATION – UPDATE

Brentwood, CA – This is an update regarding the shooting that took place on September 19, 2024 at approximately 8:44 p.m.

Further investigation revealed the shooting occurred on Sand Creek Road east of Stoney Creek Drive. Following the shooting, individuals fled to a home in the 100 block of Brush Creek Dr. There, Officers detained six people related to the incident, recovered a firearm and arrested the shooter, identified as 18 year old, Tyjae Dukes from Brentwood. \

Dukes was booked into the Contra Costa County Jail on a number of felony charges to include Assault
with a Deadly Weapon and Attempted Murder.

The shooting victim remains hospitalized and is expected to recover.

  • Brentwood Police did not identify where the shooting occurred as several people reported the Denny’s parking lot, however, its unknown if the victim was shot elsewhere and that is where he ended up when 9-1-1 was called.
  • While police say several people were detained, its unclear if any arrests were made. Their name/age/location has not been released.

Note – the shooting comes days after the Antioch Police Department issue Statement on 12 Recent Shootings within the City of Antioch that have left multiple people wounded.

Oh my goodness. Crime such as this in Brentwood? Common thought is this stuff only happens in Antioch.
