The Contra Costa County Sheriffs Office says a man and a 7-month-old infant were shot in a shootout in Bay Point on Sunday.
On Sunday, September 29, 2024 at approximately 5:47 pm, Muir Station deputy sheriffs were dispatched to a report of shots fired at the 3600 block of Desanie Circle in Bay Point.
Callers stated that there was a fight in the street between two large groups of people and shots were fired. A seven-month-old infant and a man were shot. The infant apparently was grazed by a bullet. They were taken to hospital.
Two suspects were later taken into custody.

No suspect information was released as of Monday morning.
Tuesday UPDATE: Arrests Announced
- Teron Smith, 19, San Francisco
- Daysaun Williams, 18, Bay Point
Both have been booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on the following charges: attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and child abuse. Both are each being held in lieu of $1.75 million bail.
One person was wounded and a child was grazed by a bullet in Bay Point on Sunday as the Contra Costa County Sheriffs is investigating a shooting.
According to primary information, shooting occurred at 5:50 pm on Desanie Cir where one person was struck in the lower leg and a baby/child was grazed by gunfire in the head. Both were transported to Bay Area hospitals.
Contra Costa County Fire Protection District and AMR responded to provide care and transport both victims to Bay Area hospitals. No other information was released on the condition.
Search Updates:
- At 6:03 pm, the sheriffs office was reporting two males last seen running in an open field on Gregory Drive.
- By 6:06 pm, sheriff deputies located the suspects running along the railroad tracks.
- By 6:10 pm, the sheriffs office confirmed they spotted the suspects in bushes behind Gregory Drive. One of the suspect vehicle was out of the City of Concord.
- By 6:21 pm, at least one suspect came out from hiding and is custody. Both complied with deputy commands. A short time later, both suspects were in custody. However, deputies were still searching for potential other suspects.
- Multiple shell casings were located by deputies on scene.
- By 6:39 pm, deputies were informed that at least six people had fled to the mobile home park at Port Chicago Highway and Pacifica.
- 6:50 pm – Suspects were described as 3 Hispanic male juveniles who ran through the mobile home park.
- 6:55 pm – one house reported a bullet hole in their refrigerator on Desanie Cir
- 7:07 pm, deputies confirmed an “infant” struck by gunfire.
- 7:20 pm, deputies reported 5 in custody/detained
- 7:31 pm – deputies took 2 more suspects into custody (total of 7)
- 7:59 pm – 40 bullet casings were located. A bullet was also later discovered in a refrigerator of one of the residents near the shooting scene.
The Pittsburg Police Department was assisting sheriffs deputies in Bay Point on the shooting.
