On this episode, a chat with Mike Barbanica, candidate for Contra Costa County Board of Supervisor in District 5. He provides an update on the campaign, where he is at on several issues. With he and his opponent pretty close on most topics, the race will likely come down to public safety and ensuring people are held accountable—and impact of Proposition 36.
The race also has an opportunity to bring Contra Costa County back more to the middle, or could continue down the same path. We get into both City of Antioch and City of Pittsburg issues, as well as needs in communities like Bay Point and Rodeo. Ultimately, Barbanica urges the community to watch both debates and make the choice that is best for them.

Question for Mike. Why and how did you allow Lamar to let the lawlessness in Antioch?
You didn’t stand up to the mayor and look at the state of your district. Empty shopping center’s homeless and dumping. You said the Antioch officers didn’t need the help of outside agencies and you assisted in creating the mess that is Antioch. I know that Mike is you bff and won’t ask you the hard questions
Deborah, 100% False… He is the ONLY ONE on the council to make the call for outside agencies. He also called on doubling of code enforcement. Not sure who is telling your the false information or where you are getting it from but its not correct. https://contracosta.news/2023/08/06/barbanica-calls-on-chp-and-sheriff-to-assist-antioch-police/
He makes a big show of calling for oversight but got endorsed by his buddy Sheriff Livingston who does everything possible to fight oversight. We shouldnt need outside oversight in the first place if the people we pay to protect us just do their job instead of making us a joke.
Our neighborhoods aren’t safe, officers dont want to work here, and Sheriff Livingston wont let anything to change. Anyone curious – go look up what Sheriff Livingston says about increased transparency and oversight. If he endoreses Barbanica, you do the math.
Let’s be honest. Mike talks big, does nothing, plays both sides and now wants a promotion. When someone tells you who they are, maybe we should listen.
