Concord: One Dead in Vehicle vs. Pedestrian, Murder Suspect Arrested

At approximately 7:45 pm Sunday, the Concord Police Department responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian incident on Grant Street in the City of Concord.

According to preliminary information, a person was struck by a vehicle near the Bonfare Market in the 2800 block of Grant Street and was later pronounced deceased on scene.

Police later said the person has died and it appeared to be a murder. It was also stated the driver fled the vehicle, but not before retrieving a firearm from the trunk of the Jetta. Its unclear if a firearm was used in the incident, or took the weapon before fleeing.

Police began searching a nearby neighborhood for the suspect.

CONCORD PD UPDATE

On 10/6/24, at approximately 7:45 PM, CPD officers responded to a gas station in the 2800 block of Grant Street for adisturbance involving a male struck by a vehicle. Officers arrived and found a 33-year-old man with injuries caused by a vehicle impact. Officers and Paramedics provided medical aid, but the man died at the scene. Investigation showed the male was intentionally struck by a vehicle being driving by the suspect. The suspect fled the scene but was located a short distance away.

Alex Lazaro-Rosas, a 22-year-old Concord resident was arrested for murder and booked at county jail. The victim and suspect in this case were acquainted. The victim’s name is not being released pending notification of family.
