18-Year-Old Charged With Attempted Murder in Brentwood Shooting

The Brentwood Police Department says an 18-year-old has been charged with attempted murder and the case is now filed with the District Attorneys office.

On September 19th approximately 8:45PM, Brentwood Officers responded to a shooting that occurred on Sand Creek Road, east of Stoney Creek Drive. When officers arrived they located a 17 year-old male victim who had been shot. Officers administered lifesaving medical aide and the victim was transported to a local hospital. The victim, who sustained life threatening injuries, survived.

Following the shooting, several individuals fled to a residence located at the 100 block of Brush Creek Drive. Due to the nature of the incident, officers deployed the Armored Rescue Vehicle in search of the suspect(s) and firearm used in the incident.

At the residence, officers arrested the shooter, identified as 18 year-old Ty’Jae Dukes of Brentwood, and recovered the firearm.

Police say on September 24th, the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office filed charges against Dukes for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and other related charges.

This dedication ensures that all aspects of each case are explored rigorously, reinforcing our resolve to maintain public safety and trust within the community.

  • Sept. 20 – Updated: Police Say Man Shot Thursday Night in Brentwood: This is an update regarding the shooting that took place on September 19, 2024 at approximately 8:44 p.m. Further investigation revealed the shooting occurred on Sand Creek Road east of Stoney Creek Drive. Following the shooting, individuals fled to a home in the 100 block of Brush Creek Dr. There, Officers detained six people related to the incident, recovered a firearm and arrested the shooter, identified as 18 year old, Tyjae Dukes from Brentwood.  Dukes was booked into the Contra Costa County Jail on a number of felony charges to include Assaultwith a Deadly Weapon and Attempted Murder.
  • Note – the shooting comes days after the  Antioch Police Department issue Statement on 12 Recent Shootings within the City of Antioch that have left multiple people wounded.
