Construction to Begin for Bay Point Trash Capture Installation Project

Bay Point, CA – Contra Costa County Public Works will begin construction of the Bay Point Trash Capture Installation project on Monday, October 14, 2024, and continue through Tuesday, December 10, 2024, barring unforeseen circumstances.

According to the county, the project will reduce the yearly load of trash from the Bay Point area into Suisun Bay by installing large trash capture devices in-line with existing storm drain pipe to capture trash and debris traveling within the storm drain system.

Work will take place on Willow Pass Road between Ambrose Avenue and include the intersection with Alves Lane.

Work will occur between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays), weather permitting. Lane closures along Willow Pass Road will be in place during construction activity at Alves Lane. Drivers should expect delays of up to 5 minutes during construction.

Traffic control will be used. Restrictions will be in place to minimize impacts during commuting hours. Message boards will alert drivers about the work. Drivers should expect delays through the construction zone and consider alternative routes during working hours.

This project is intended to prevent debris from flowing into our waterways. The work consists of excavation, shoring, installation of debris separating baffle boxes (DBSS), and pavement restoration.

Funding for this project is provided by a Caltrans Storm Water Resources Control Board Grant. More information about this project can be found at www.contracosta.ca.gov/Bay-Point-Trash-Capture
