Discovery Bay Home Destroyed in Overnight Fire

At 12:10 am Thursday, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to a report of a house fire in the Town of Discovery Bay.

According to Contra Costa County Fire, firefighters were dispatched to reports flames coming from the roof of a home in Discovery Bay located in the 3600 block of Valley Oak Drive. While en route, Engine 99 confirmed visible smoke and requested the addition of the Crew 12 water tender to the already working fire response.

Firefighters began a defensive fire attack as a partial roof collapse occurred early in the incident. The fire was marked under control in approximately two hours. 

The fire district reported that the fire was contained to the one home with no extension to nearby houses.  No injuries have been reported and the cause is under investigation.

Firefighters Battle 2-Alarm Fire in lafayette

Just before 5:00 am, October 8, 2024, Contra Costa Fire and Moraga-Orinda Fire District firefighters were dispatched to a residential structure fire in Lafayette. Engine 15 was first on scene and reported heavy fire from a two story home. While quickly completing a 360 the incident was upgraded to a 2nd alarm as the fire had spread to the home next door with additional nearby homes threatened. Next arriving crews established a water supply, secured utilities, and continued a defensive fire attack.

The fire was contained to the two involved homes. No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation with the Contra Costa Fire- Fire Investigators.
