Woman Suffers Life Threatening Injuries in Hit-And-Run Crash in Antioch

On October 12, 2024, at approximately 8:25 PM, Antioch Police officers responded to a report of a hit and run auto vs. pedestrian vehicle collision on Lone Tree Way near Canda Valley Road in the City of Antioch.

Officers arrived on scene and found the female victim unresponsive on the ground in the eastbound lanes of Lone Tree Way.  Officers performed first aid until relieved by paramedics.

The victim was transported to an area hospital with life threatening injuries.

Traffic accident investigators were called out to take over the investigation. This investigation is still on-going, and the cause of the collision has not yet been determined. This case is in the preliminary stages and the names of the parties involved are not being released at this time.

  • June 24 – Updated: Pedestrian Struck and Killed on Lone Tree Way in Antioch: On June 23rd at approximately 10:33 PM, officers were dispatched to the report of an auto versus pedestrian collision on Lone Tree Way near Black Diamond Drive. When officers arrived, they located the pedestrian, a 71 year old male resident of Antioch, suffering from life threatening injuries.  Unfortunately, the man did not survive and was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The driver of the vehicle that collided with the pedestrian remained on scene and cooperated in the investigation. The preliminary investigation and witness statements revealed that the man was crossing Lone Tree Way, in the crosswalk, against the don’t walk signal when the collision occurred.  Impairment does not appear to be a factor in this collision and the man’s identity is being withheld pending notification to his next of kin.

Our streets in Antioch are dangerous, period. Everybody knows this and sees it everyday. Street racing, exhibitions of speed, willful running of stop lights and signs, exceeding speed limits everywhere vehicles with loud exhaust can be heard constantly. It's no secret as to why, absolutely zero enforcement. But make no mistake, it's not the fault of our dedication men and women of the Antioch Police Department. They are doing everything they can just to keep up with burgeoning crime in our community. It's no secret our council members, not all of them have not supportive of our PD. Criticism in the media, threats of funding and equipment cuts, media rants, the absence of a permanent police chief and of course problems within the pd it self. All have led to our decimated police department and its inability to backfill vacancies. And it's not just the police department. Numerous vacancies exist in city departments across the board. No one wants to work in or for a city with such problems. We as citizens deserve better. It's not too late Antioch. Demand more from our elected officials and hold them accountable, all of them. Oh, and one more thing. The next time you see a cop on the street thank her or him for everything they are doing.
