Sewer Line Break

The Ironhouse Sanitary District has provided an update to the sewer line break on E Cypress Road near Main Street in the City of Oakley.

According to the Ironhouse Sanitary District as of 5:00 pm Wednesday:

  • ALERT : TRAFFIC IMPACT
  • East Cypress Road at Main Street
  • Situation occurring today (10/16) and possibly tomorrow (10/17)

A large sewer line has broken on East Cypress Road, just east of Main Street. Crews have been onsite to conduct the repairs. The nature of the broken line has caused the two left-hand turn lanes from westbound East Cypress Road onto southbound Main Street to be shut down.

This has effectively brought that section of road down from three lanes to only one lane to handle all southbound and northbound turns and through traffic. The situation may extend into tomorrow. Traffic will be negatively impacted as a result.

This repair work will not be happening while Sellers Avenue is closed tonight (10/16) from 8 pm to 5 am and will not restart on 10/17 until after school drop-off.

Instructions:

Find alternate routing if possible. Use Sellers Avenue and Knightsen Avenue off of East Cypress Road, if possible, to avoid Main Street. Allow extra time and exercise patience in the area. If possible try to set up carpools to pick up school students from Iron House and Delta Vista school

8:52 am: Via City of Oakley:
October 16, 2024: Ironhouse Sanitary District’s crew is excavating the roadway on East Cypress Road at Main Street to perform repairs and replace a broken pipe. East Cypress Road is open to through traffic. A temporary lane closure (after the railroad crossing) is set up on both left turn lanes onto Main Street to keep the public and construction crew safe. The repairs are estimated to take place all day October 16th and possibly October 17th.
