Pinole police say a man was shot after giving chase to a suspect who was attempting to break into a garage Friday morning.
On Friday, October 18th, at approximately 5:30 AM, the Pinole Police Department received reports of gunfire and a male yelling in the 2300 block of Simas Avenue.
While officers responded, a woman called from the 3200 block of Estates Avenue reporting her husband had been shot. When officers arrived, they contacted the victim at his residence in the 3200 block of Estates Avenue who was suffering from gunshot wounds to his legs.
Officers immediately requested medical assistance. Paramedics responded and treated the victim at the scene. The victim was transported to an area hospital and is in stable condition.
Pinole Police Department Criminal Investigations Division investigators responded to the scene and initiated their investigation. The initial investigation has revealed the victim discovered a subject attempting to break into his garage. The subject was associated with a vehicle occupied by additional subjects parked in front of the victim’s house. The victim confronted the subjects, who fled in their vehicle and the victim began chasing them in his vehicle.
The chase ended on Simas Court where the suspect fired multiple rounds at the victim, striking the victim and his vehicle, causing the victim to crash into a fence.
The suspect who attempted to break into the victim’s garage and fired at the victim is described as a black male adult, in his 20s, wearing a mask. The suspect vehicle is described as a dark[1]colored four-door sedan.
