At approximately 1:27 PM Monday, the Concord Police Department received a call reporting a potential threat involving a firearm on a local school campus.
Officers responded immediately to ensure the safety of students and staff at both Cambridge Elementary and Oak Grove Middle School. Out of an abundance of caution, Oak Grove Middle School was placed on lockdown while officers conducted a safety check. A visible police presence was also maintained at Cambridge Elementary.
During the school dismissal process, officers received information from a student, leading to a possible suspect in the case. Officers followed up on the lead, identifying the responsible party who is also a student at Oak Grove Middle School. The suspected student was contacted by police at their residence and subsequently arrested for falsely reporting an emergency (148.3 PC). They were later released to the custody of their parents.
The safety of our community and schools is our top priority, and we thank school administrators, staff, and families for their cooperation and patience during this incident.
