On Saturday, Oakley City Council candidate Oleksii Chuiko shared he is being harassed by Councilmember George Fuller through a series of text messages.
According to Chuiko, he says he has been harassed through text messages over the past few weeks and it has gotten to the point where its finally crossed the line. In one of the text message, Fuller says to Chuiko, “Go back to Ukraine” while another calls him “boy”.
“You put any nationality on that statement, it is just sad to see the comments in a text message and its uncalled for. It’s not acceptable for anyone at any time to make comments like that,” explained Chuiko. “Up to this point, I wanted to run a clean campaign. But this is just unhealthy and he is a public official. It’s just unfortunate.”
The impact of the text messages is also impacting his family says Chuiko where he and his wife had a baby and now they have to worry about this type of rhetoric. He also suggests its nearly candidate harassment and intimidation.
