The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
October 13th
- Recovered Stolen Vehicle – Gladys Ave. / Elm St.: At 2:22 AM, officers received a FLOCK notification of a stolen vehicle within the city limits. An officer located the vehicle but the driver sped off. Due to the driver’s erratic behavior, the officer elected not to pursue the vehicle. Minutes later the officer located the vehicle abandoned near the city limits. The officer processed the vehicle for evidence and released the vehicle.
- Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 6500 block of Hagen Blvd.: At 7:25 hours, an officer responded to a report of a vehicle in the middle of the street. Officers discovered the vehicle was not yet reported stolen out of East Richmond Heights. The vehicle owner was contacted, and the vehicle was released on scene.
- Grand Theft from Person – Santa Clara Ave. / San Diego St. At 10:36 AM, an officer was flagged down by the victim of a theft. The victim reports a suspect vehicle pulled alongside the victim as the rear passenger asked for directions. The suspect then asked the victim to come closer, to which the suspect then snatched the necklace from the victim’s neck.
- Vehicle Tampering – 600 block of Elm St: At 2:56 PM, an officer reports a suspect shattered the window of a vehicle and damaged the steering column in an attempt to steal the vehicle sometime between 10/11/2024 and 10/13/2024.
- Shoplift – 670 El Cerrito Plaza (CVS): At 7:13 PM, an officer reports a suspect loaded a bag with various items and fled the store.
- Theft from Vehicle- 6800 Block of Snowdon Ave. At 9:56 PM, an officer reports the suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole property.
- Vandalism – 10690 San Pablo Ave. (DaVita Dialysis): At 11:34 PM, an officer on viewed two suspects graffitiing a wall to the business. The officer contacted the suspects and detained one while the other suspect fled. Officers canvassed the area and discovered four more locations with similar graffiti that appeared to be freshly painted. The detained suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
October 14th
- Brandishing a Weapon – San Pablo Ave. / Cutting Blvd: At 6:59 PM, an officer reports two parties were involved in a road rage incident. At one point, one of the involved parties pointed a firearm at the occupants of the other vehicle before driving away.
- Shoplift / Disobeying a Peace Officer – 670 El Cerrito Plaza (CVS): At 7:46 PM, officers were dispatched to the business for a theft that had just occurred. A responding officer located and contacted the suspect walking along the Ohlone Greenway. The suspect failed to obey the officer’s commands and attempted to flee. After a short foot pursuit, the suspect was arrested. The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
October 15th
- Theft – 11888 San Pablo Ave. (NUG): At 1:27 PM, the victim reports leaving their cell phone at the business. When the victim returned, their phone was missing.
October 16th
- Stolen Vehicle – 10636 San Pablo Ave. (24 Hour Fitness): At 6:42 AM, the victim reports their vehicle was stolen from the parking lot.
- Public Intoxication – El Cerrito Plaza: At 9:29 AM, officers arrested a suspect for public intoxication after the suspect yelled and threw a glass bottle in the parking lot. Officers found the suspect had symptoms of being under the influence of alcohol. The suspect was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
- Arrest for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle – San Pablo Ave. / Cutting Blvd.: At 12:28 PM, officers located an occupied stolen vehicle traveling in the city. Officers conducted traffic enforcement stop of the vehicle and arrested the driver. The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. The owner of the vehicle was contacted and the vehicle was released on scene.
October 17th
- Warrant Arrest – Cutting Blvd. / Fairview Dr.: At 10:55 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During the investigation, the officer found the driver to have a warrant. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
October 18th
- Drunk in Public / Battery on a Peace Officer– 6500 Block of Stockton Ave.: At 7:14 PM, an officer was dispatched to the area for a welfare check of a subject in distress. Upon arrival, the officer determined the subject was intoxicated and refused medical assistance. While officers were taking the subject into custody, the subject kicked one of the officers in the abdomen. The subject was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
October 19th
- Petty Theft – 11565 San Pablo Ave. (Walgreens): At 9:50 AM, the victim’s unsecured bicycle was stolen while the victim shopped.
- Driving Under the Influence / Battery on a Police Officer – San Pablo Ave. / Manila Ave.: At 1:52 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During the DUI investigation, officers found the driver to be under the influence of alcohol while transporting two juvenile children. The driver was arrested and booked at the El Cerrito Police Department. During the booking process, the suspect spat in the face of an officer. The driver was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility and the juveniles were released to the custody of a relative.
October 20th
- Vehicle Burglary – 6400 block of Schmidt Ln. At 12:25 PM, an officer reports a suspect entered the victim’s vehicle and stole property sometime overnight.
- Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Ave. / Madison Ave. At 11:16 PM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During the DUI investigation, officers found the suspect to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and released with a citation to a sober friend.

During the DUI investigation, officers found the suspect to be under the influence of alcohol. October 21st
- Stolen Vehicle – 5800 block of Lassen St. At 9:37 AM, the victim reported their vehicle was stolen sometime overnight.
- Shoplifting – 6000 El Cerrito Plaza (Marshalls): At 11:35 AM, an officer reports a suspect stole items from the store and fled prior to police arrival.
- Warrant Arrest – 1800 Block of Key Blvd. At 2:55 AM, officers were dispatched to a suspicious person in the area. Officers contacted the subject and found the subject had two outstanding warrants. The subject was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
October 22nd
- Stolen Vehicle – 6500 block of Knott Ave. At 8:28 AM, a victim reported their vehicle stolen.
- Organized Retail Theft – 6000 El Cerrito Plaza (Marshalls): At 4:18 PM, officers arrested two suspects for stealing items from the store. The suspects were booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
October 23rd
- Stolen Vehicle – 7000 block of Carol Ct. At 12:57 PM, the victim reported their vehicle was stolen sometime last night.
- Identity Theft – 700 block of Balra Dr. At 1:30 PM, a victim reported that a suspect used their information to open a bank account in their name.
- Shoplifting – 11060 San Pablo Ave. (Harbor Freight): At 4:13 PM, officers located a suspect who had stolen items from the store. The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released with a citation.
- Public Intoxication – 7400 Block of Moeser Ln. At 6:05 PM, officers were dispatched to a subject down on the ground. The subject was highly intoxicated and transported to the hospital. The case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s office.
October 24th
- Auto Burglary – 300 block of Carmel Ave. At 6:13 AM, a victim reports suspects shattered the victim’s vehicle windows and stole miscellaneous items.
- Petty Theft – 700 Block of Kearney St. At 3:47 PM, the victim reports a suspect stole an electric bicycle.
October 25th
- Fraudulent Checks – 11156 San Pablo Ave. (St. John School): At 10:40 AM, an officer reports a suspect obtained the account information to the school bank account and issued fraudulent checks.
- Residential Burglary – 500 Block of Oak St. At 6:23 PM, an officer reports a suspect entered the victim’s residence and ransacked a room.
- Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Ave. / Wall Ave. At 7:35 PM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During the DUI investigation, officers found the suspect to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and released with a citation to a sober friend.
- Driving Under the Influence / Unlicensed Driver / Hit and Run – Barrett Ave. / LaHonda Ave. At 11:38 PM, officers were dispatched to a collision where the driver collided into several parked vehicles. Upon arrival the suspect had fled the scene. Witnesses provided officers with a description of the suspect. Officers circulated the area and located the registered owner of the suspect vehicle who appeared intoxicated. The suspect was positively identified during an infield investigation by witnesses. Officers conducted a DUI investigation and found the suspect to be under the influence of alcohol. The suspect was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released with a citation to a sober friend.
October 26th
- Vehicle Theft – 6401 Stockton Ave. (Veteran’s Hall):
Between the hours of 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM on 10/25/2024, a victim reports their vehicle was stolen while the owner was inside the Veteran’s Hall.
