CHP: Two Wounded in Sunday Freeway Shooting on SR-24

ORINDA, Calif. – Detectives assigned to the California Highway Patrol’s (CHP) Golden Gate Division Special Investigations Unit (SIU) are investigating a freeway shooting that occurred on eastbound State Route (SR) 24 near Fish Ranch Road.

On Sunday, December 8, 2024, at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers assigned to the CHP’s Contra Costa Area office were dispatched to a report of a shooting on eastbound SR-24 near the Fish Ranch Road onramp. Following the shooting, the driver of the victim’s vehicle called 9-1-1 and advised that two occupants of the vehicle had been struck by gunfire. The driver of the victim’s vehicle and one passenger were transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the shooting.

SIU personnel responded to the scene and assumed primary investigative responsibility. All lanes of eastbound SR-24 were closed for approximately one hour to allow detectives to investigate the scene.

This is an ongoing investigation, and CHP detectives are actively attempting to determine a motive and identify the suspect(s) and vehicle(s) involved. Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to call the CHP investigative Tipline at (707) 917-4491.
