Oakley Police Respond to Fentanyl Overdose Call
At 4:41PM, officers were dispatched to the Antioch Regional Shoreline pier parking lot at the end of Bridgehead Road for a call of two unresponsive men inside a vehicle. Officers Horn and B. Jackson arrived at the scene and were met by one of the parents of the victims who guided them to the right vehicle. Officers Horn and B. Jackson found the two men unconscious and unresponsive in the driver’s and front passenger seats of the vehicle. The man in the driver’s seat appeared to have labored breathing while the passenger showed no signs of life at all. Officers Horn and B. Jackson started working on both men simultaneously and came to the conclusion that both men seemed to be suffering from a drug overdose. One dose of Narcan was administered to each man with no positive response occurring from either of them. Officers Horn and B. Jackson administered second doses of Narcan to each man. The man who had been in the driver’s seat continued to have labored breathing and a shallow pulse. The man who had been in the passenger seat never gained consciousness and never developed any sign of life; he was pronounced deceased at the scene. The man who had been in the driver’s seat was transported to a local hospital for elevated treatment.
