On Tuesday, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors will talk abatement costs of three properties in Contra Costa County.
The properties include up for a public hearing include:
- 47 Sanford Avenue, Richmond – $4,788.30.
- 3121 Ranch Lane, Oakley – $17,832.04
- The Notice to Secure and Maintain a Vacant Structure was posted on the above-referenced property for vacant property with overgrown vegetation, garbage and debris and was serviced on the property owner and all persons known to be in possession of the property by certified mail on May 16, 2024.

- The property owner was billed for the actual cost of the abatement and all administrative costs. The bill was sent by first-class mail to the property owner on August 29, 2024. The property owner did not pay the bill within 45 days of the date of mailing.
- 725 Santa Maria Dr, El Sobrante – $7,345.80
- The Notice and Order to abate was posted on the above-referenced property for an unsecured and unmaintained vacant structure and an improperly screened RV and was serviced on the property owner and all persons known to be in possession of the property by certified mail on July 12, 2024.

- The property owner was billed for the actual cost of the abatement and all administrative costs. The bill was sent by first-class mail to the property owner on September 23, 2024. The property owner did not pay the bill within 45 days of the date of mailing.
The items will be discussed as part of three separate Board of Supervisor agenda items on Dec 17.

Anchor Marina Cleanup
Earlier in 2024, Contra Costa County completed an abatement at Anchor Marina on Bethel Island at a cost of $100k. 24 truckloads of trash and debris were extracted totaling 44 tons. The estimated cost was $80k, but turned out to be $100k.

I would just like to say for clarification, the “Oakley” address appears to be Bethel Island. Not that it matters, don’t be a pos wherever you live, but for what it’s worth, we’ve all called it Methel Island all these years for a reason….
