At 4:40 pm Monday, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to a report of a head-on vehicle crash in unincorporated Brentwood.
The head on crash occurred at Balfour Road at Bixler that resulted in a rollover crash trapping one person with critical injuries in the vehicle after ending up overturned on its roof while in a ditch.
Firefighters arrived on scene and worked to free the occupant of the vehicle. Two victims were transported to area hospitals.
While working the incident, a Contra Costa County Sheriff’s deputy was also nearly hit while directing traffic at the intersection where a speeding vehicle drove past the crash scene.
At the same intersection of Balfour Road and Bixler, on December 7, a vehicle crashed into a guard shack killing one and injuring another in the Town of Discovery Bay.
