The Pleasant Hill Police Department is investigating a gunfight between parties in two vehicles Monday in the City of Pleasant Hill.

According to Police Chief Scott Vermillion, the shooting occurred at 11:49 am when dispatch began receiving multiple reports of shots fired involving two different vehicles at Contra Costa Blvd at Vivian Drive Drive. Officers responded where they were able to stop the vehicle ½ mile north of the original scene at Contra Costa Blvd and Harriet Drive.

UPDATE: Contra Costa is closed Northbound at Ellinwood and Southbound at Doris due to police activity. Please avoid the area.

Vermillion said the vehicle had at least four bullet holes in the vehicle, and multiple other shots were fired in the incident. They located one occupant in the vehicle who had been wounded in the hand. The adult male was transported to an area hospital.

Pleasant Hill Police investigators are still actively working the case and preliminary information shows this was possibly related to a domestic dispute (not road rage as originally believed). Police said the parties know each other and may be released to a court issue involving child custody or a domestic relationship.

Police said due to two crime scenes, northbound Contra Costa Blvd. is closed and will reopen late Monday afternoon. No arrests have been made as of 1:45 pm.

“Police said the parties know each other and may be released to a court issue involving child custody or a domestic relationship” Only Stupid people go around shooting at people thinking it will help get child custody. That poor child needs a better home!
