Through the New Year, the Contra Costa County Library is hosting several events, including New Year’s Eve for kids. Here is a rundown of events between Dec 28-31 within Contra Costa County library system.
Note – before attending, be sure to check the “age groups” for which each event is suitable for as many are for young children or those under 10. Some events are for older children and adults.
Dec 28: Self-Service Sundays Pilot Program at the Concord Library

- Have a Contra Costa County Library Card in Good Standing
- Attend an In-Person Orientation at the Concord Library

Dec 28 – Danville Library Hosts Noon Year’s Eve Storytime

Twas the day before New Year’s and in the Reading Room, all the children were ready to ring in the New Year at noon. The families had come to the Danville Library in hope that storytime would make them all merry! All enjoyed stories and songs, festive favors and more, even a bubble wrap stomp on the floor! And when it was over, the delight and the din, all were happy and ready for the New Year to begin! Join library volunteers to explore some of our most useful and most popular computer programs. Computer Docents at the El Cerrito Library Saturdays, 11AM-1PM Computer docents answer simple technical questions and offer basic instruction in digital services available through the library website. Each computer session is planned to help you get started so you can then explore and learn on your own!
Computer Docents will help you learn to use digital services such as:
- Libby for books and audiobooks
- Kanopy for movies and documentaries
- Rosetta Stone for language learning
- Alexander Street to enjoy performing arts online
- PressReader for more access to newspapers and magazines online
