Update: Antioch Police Says Suspect in Shooting Now in Custody

The Antioch Police Department is seeking the location of Marlon Wheeler and are asking for the public’s help in locating him. Wheeler is considered armed and dangerous.

If you see Wheeler, do not approach him. Please call 9-1-1 immediately. Police will provide additional updates as more information becomes available. Thank you for your assistance.

1:30 pm UPDATE: Suspect Now in Custody

Antioch Police said they were pleased to report that Marlon Wheeler is now in custody.

They offered a thank you to the Lafayette Police Department and Pittsburg Police Department for their invaluable assistance. Following a brief pursuit, Wheeler barricaded himself inside a vehicle. Officers worked diligently to de-escalate the situation, and Wheeler surrendered peacefully a short time later. A firearm was also recovered. We sincerely appreciate your shares, cooperation, and patience as this incident was resolved. Thank you for helping us keep our community safe!

Antioch Police Searching for Man Who Shot at Girlfriend

On Sunday morning, Antioch Police released the following statement:
Last evening, Marlon Wheeler fired shots at his girlfriend. Thankfully, the victim and her three children were able to flee the area unharmed. However, a nearby residence and vehicle were struck by gunfire during the incident.

Officers responding to the scene determined that the suspect was likely barricaded inside his residence. Numerous attempts were made to contact Wheeler, leading to the activation of the Antioch Police Department’s SWAT and Crisis Negotiations teams to de-escalate the situation and safely take him into custody.

Out of caution, a shelter-in-place notification was issued to nearby residents. After several hours of attempting to contact Wheeler, the SWAT team entered the home and found that Wheeler was no longer on the scene. The shelter-in-place was lifted around 1:00 a.m.

  • SUSPECT: Marlon Wheeler (30-Years-Old)

A shelter-in-place order has been lifted following the search for a gunman on Knoll Park Circle. On December 28th, at approximately 6:35 p.m., Antioch police officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the 4700 block of Knoll Park Circle.

As officers were enroute, they received several 911 calls reporting the suspect, 30-year-old Marlon Wheeler, shot at his 37-year-old girlfriend. The victim and her three children were able to flee the residence unharmed.

A nearby residence and vehicle were struck by gunfire in the process.

Officers on the scene developed information that the suspect lived at the residence and was barricaded inside the home. After numerous attempts by officers to contact Wheeler, the Antioch Police Department’s SWAT and Crisis Negotiations teams were activated to de- escalate and safely take Wheeler into custody.

Out of an abundance of caution, a shelter-in-place notification was sent to nearby residents. After several hours of attempts to contact Wheeler, the Antioch Police Department’s SWAT team entered the home and determined Wheeler was no longer on scene. At approximately 1:00 a.m., the shelter-in-place was lifted.

We would like to thank the Brentwood Police Department for assisting in this active scene by lending their armored rescue vehicle.

The Antioch Police Department is asking if anyone knows Wheeler whereabouts to contact the Antioch Police Department. Wheeler is considered armed and dangerous and please do not contact him.
