The Oakley Police Department is currently looking for a hit-and-run driver of a vehicle crash that took out a PG&E power pole and caused a power outage in the City of Oakley.
According to the City, On January 5, 2024, at 9:17 PM Oakley officers were dispatched to the area of Laurel Road and Teton Road on the report of a vehicle that drove through a fence; one person was seen running from the vehicle.
Oakley police officers arrived on scene and found the vehicle had taken out a power pole, causing a loss of power in the area. PG&E was called to the scene to restore the power. The vehicle was a rental vehicle and witnesses and passengers on scene said the driver fled on foot in an unknown direction.
The passengers were intoxicated and they were uncooperative with the initial investigation and the driver remains unknown. This collision remains under investigation. If anybody has information regarding this incident, they may call Oakley PD at 925-625-8060.
The power outage went on for nearly 17 hours. Power was fully restored to the area by 2:15 pm Monday.
