Arrest

On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at around 3 p.m., the Livermore Police Department responded to reports of a shooting near Chestnut Street and North I Street.

When officers arrived, they learned that a group of juveniles in an Infiniti with no license plates had exchanged words with two other juveniles, ages 15 and 16. The suspects then exited the vehicle and chased the two teens over a fence. During the chase, one suspect armed with a hatchet threw it at the victims. A confrontation followed, during which at least one shot was fired. Fortunately, no one was struck, and the suspects drove off.

Through witness statements and neighborhood surveillance footage, investigators were able to identify four suspects. Ramey arrest warrants were issued.

Later that evening, an off-duty Livermore Police officer spotted the suspect vehicle in Livermore and followed it to Tracy while notifying on-duty officers. With the assistance of the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office helicopter, ALCO 1, officers tracked the vehicle as it traveled to Stockton. The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office and California Highway Patrol (CHP) were alerted.

San Joaquin County Sheriff deputies attempted a traffic stop, but the suspects drove at speeds reaching 140 mph on Interstate 5 near March Lane in Stockton. The pursuit continued onto westbound I-205, where deputies deployed spike strips, successfully disabling the vehicle west of Tracy. The four occupants were taken into custody without further incident. Three of them were identified as suspects in the Livermore shooting.

A fourth suspect in the shooting case was arrested separately during an unrelated “disturbing the peace” incident.

Investigators believe this incident is gang-related. The five suspects, ranging in age from 15 to 17, include three from Livermore, one from Pleasanton, and one from Stockton. They are currently in custody at the Alameda County Juvenile Hall, facing multiple felony charges, including possession of a stolen vehicle, willful discharge of a firearm in a grossly negligent manner and assault with a deadly weapon.

Additionally, one suspect had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The case has been forwarded to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office for review. The suspects could face additional charges in San Joaquin County.

The Livermore Police Department would like to thank our law enforcement partners, including the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office, CHP, and the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this case.
