Oakley Police Chief to Provide 2024 Crime Data

On Tuesday, the Oakley Police Department will provide its 2024 annual report showcasing crime data and staffing levels within the City of Oakley.

Staffing: The Oakley Police Department is allotted 42 sworn positions from the Chief down to the most junior officer. The department currently has 39 sworn officers with 2 recruits in the academy while 1 officer is on leave due to injury.

Calls for Service:

According to police, they had 19,668 total calls for service with a breakdown that includes:

  • Priority 1: 2,220 calls (+8%)
  • Priority 2: 3,552 calls (+18%)
  • Priority 3: 14,096 calls (-7%)

Yearly comparison:

  • 2021: 27,036
  • 2022: 25,003 -8% TOTAL CALLS
  • 2023: 20,048 -20% TOTAL CALLS
  • 2024: 19,668 -2% TOTAL CALLS

Police say this a 16% drop crime of key statistics that they track.

Traffic Citations:  Police say they wrote 2,038 traffic citations in 2024, which is a 263% increase in citations written when compared to 2023 where they only wrote 561.

Traffic Crashes: Police also reported a 7% drop in actual number of reported collisions with 177 reported in 2024 compared to 190 in 2023.

Firearm Recoveries: 36 firearms were recovered netting 34 arrests.

Total Arrest: 462 arrests in 2024.

Stolen Vehicle Recoveries: 125 stolen vehicles recovered in 2024. 74 were unoccupied and 51 recovered with associated with arrests.
