Nick’s Sandwiches, a staple in the City of Pittsburg, has announced it has expanded with the opening of a second location int he City of Concord.
Nicks Sandwiches took over the old Rossi Café & Deli location located at 2300 Clayton Road after purchasing the business last year.
Owner Elise Davila shared she was always looking to grow Nick’s Sandwhiches to multiple locations and needed another challenge–looking in the City of Concord or City of Walnut Creek areas. However, the opportunity came sooner rather than later after one day while in line for supplies, the opportunity happened by chance.
“I am a hyper person so I need multiple things,” explained Davilia. “I was standing in line and I hear the guy in front of me saying he was going to sell. I suggested he sell it to me since our carts were similar. He looked at me like I was crazy. He had a deli, I told him I had a deli and we talked. I checked out his deli and he checked out ours and we pursued a deal.”
She ran the Rossi Cafe & Deli for a month before making the transition over to Nick’s Sandwiches in early February.
“It all worked out smoothly as we started the process last August,” explained Davila. “I hope to open another location in the future but it has to be the right fit, make sense and good location.”
For those fearing Nick’s Sandwiches is leaving Pittsburg, Davila squashed those rumors saying the location is not going anywhere and she is happy in the City of Pittsburg and looks forward to continued growth and catering many events.
Davila points out her Pittsburg location is not going away and they are stable and continuing to grow with the community.
“I am not leaving Pittsburg. It’s my baby. Its like my first born and Concord is my second. I have a team in place and we look forward to many years in Pittsurg as we grow and evolve with the community” explained Davila.
As for Concord, the main change is they will now have breakfast availability as they open at 7:00 am – including coffee and other breakfast staples. Pittsburg will still open at 10 am. Both shops will have very consistent sandwiches with no change.
Davila shared her top three sandwiches include:
-
- Cali Club – turkey cheddar, bacon
- Green Goddess – Mozzarella, pesto, avocado and cucumber
- Hot Pastrami – Pastrami & Swiss
Now in Concord, Davila hopes to become involved in the community like she has in Pittsburg.
“Like Pittsburg, I want to be involved in the Concord community. My kids go to school here and play sports, Concord does a lot of fun and innovated stuff that there is so much potential,” explained Davilia. “Its exciting. I want to grow with them and hopefully it leads to further expansion.”
Nicks Sandwiches, located in the City of Pittsburg, first opened in the fall of 2017, quickly outgrew their original location and moved to a larger spot where they are located now at 765 Railroad Ave. The Concord location is at 2300 Clayton Road.
