The Concord Police Department is investigating an officer involved shooting after responding to an argument in the 1900 block of Natoma Drive in the city of Concord.
According to preliminary information, Concord Police Department there was an argument among family members which escalated into a stabbing. It resulted in an officer involved shooting around 1:40 am Tuesday.
Police confirmed later Tuesday morning that one person armed with a knife was shot and killed in an officer involved shooting after attacking a family member with a knife.
10:15 am UPDATE
In an email from Lt. Kevin Helm, he confirmd police are still on scene investigating an officer involved shooting.
“Right now, Concord police officers are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Natoma Drive. This morning around 1:40 am, Concord Police Department dispatch received a 911 call about a person attacking a family member with a knife. Upon their arrival, officers found an adult male actively stabbing a family member.
An officer-involved shooting occurred and the male who had been armed with the knife was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim was transported to a local area hospital and is expected to survive.
Investigators are currently on scene conducting their investigation. We are asking the community to stay clear of the area while our investigators do their work. We will continue to post updates on our social media platforms. We thank our community for your patience. ”
