The Contra Costa County Sheriffs Office announced the arrest of a Bay Point man in connection with weapon violations.
According to the sheriff’s office, Detectives from the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff Investigation Division served an arrest warrant at a home in Bay Point on February 20, 2025.
The warrant was part of an investigation after an earlier arrest of a felon who was in possession of a firearm. During the search, detectives found two stolen handguns, a short-barreled rifle, an assault weapon, as well as weapons without serial numbers.
Detectives arrested 35-year-old Gregory Martin of Bay Point.
He was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on charges that include possession of a short-barreled rifle, carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle, and possession of an assault rifle. He is being held in lieu of $360,000 bail.
The investigation is ongoing.

The Contra Costa County Sheriffs Office announced an arrest of Pittsburg man for numerous weapons violations.
According to the Sheriffs Office, on Thursday, January 2, 2025, detectives from the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff served a search warrant at a residence in Pittsburg. It was part of a continuing investigation into a shooting that occurred at the Contra Costa County Fairground in Antioch on September 16, 2024 where two suspects shot a person during an argument.
