The Oakley Police Department announced the arrest of Timmy Hudson in connection with a 2023 vehicular manslaughter hit and run case.
Police announced Monday, that on February 20, 2025, at approximately 3:00PM, Oakley police officers from the Special Operations Division, Investigations and Patrol collaborated and worked together to safely take a vehicular manslaughter and felony hit and run suspect into custody.
This case dates back to December of 2023 when a bicyclist was struck by a car near the intersection of Bridgehead Road and Main Street. The bicyclist succumbed to the injuries he received in the collision and died as a result. The driver of the vehicle that struck the victim did not stop and fled the scene.
Police said back in December 2023 that the registered owner of the vehicle, Hudson, had been taken into custody in connection with this case, but he has not been forthcoming on where his vehicle is. Investigators have been actively attempting to locate Hudson’s vehicle but have been unable to do so up to this point — investigators had determined that vehicle to be a silver 2015 Toyota Camry, CA license plate # 8ERS961.
In Monday’s update, police did not share what had changed in the case, however, collectively, many officers of the Oakley Police Department have worked on pieces of the case over the past several months and identified Timmy Hudson (57, Oakley) as the suspect.
The case was presented to the District Attorney’s Office and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Hudson was arrested after being followed and stopped by Oakley Police officers near Sellers Avenue and Golden State Parkway. Hudson was booked into jail and the prosecutorial process will now begin.
Chief Paul Beard commented on the arrest.
“I am proud of the tenacious dedication all of the officers who were involved in this case put into this investigation. Everything from the initial scene investigation, immediate follow-up investigations, the longer detail-oriented investigations and the careful planning that went into a safe apprehension of Mr. Hudson were all done in explementary fashion and I am proud of the officers of the Oakley Police Department who constantly prioritize the things that deserve our top priority. I know this arrest cannot undo the sad results of what lead to this case, but I do hope it can bring some amount of closure to the loved ones of the victim.
