The Antioch Police Department announced the return of its neighborhood cleanup program which will occur on March 1.

According to police, join them at Sycamore Square on March 1 (1108 Sycamore Drive) from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The community will join Antioch Police as they team up with the community to clean up city streets and neighborhoods.

“The Antioch Police Department is continually exploring programs and initiatives related to the MOA with the Department of Justice. This is the perfect opportunity to bring back some community engagement events, such as the Neighborhood Cleanup and revamping our Neighborhood Watch Program. As we move through the year, we intend to be very purposeful around community engagement and want to participate in events that are meaningful to our residents,” said acting Police Chief Joe vigil.

The last cleanup, which was scheduled for April 8, 2023 was cancelled which would have been cleanup number 117. It was a monthly cleanup that rotated around the city of Antioch. This was a collaborative community effort which involves active participation from The Antioch Police Department Crime Prevention Commission, Neighborhood Watch Program, Volunteers in Police Service, community volunteers and the Public Works Department.

The City of Antioch Neighborhood Cleanup program is not just for residential neighborhoods. It is a program that will change venues on a monthly basis and will include business and commercial areas as well. Neighborhoods that are free of trash are inviting, and a clean community instills a sense of community pride.

Volunteers will receive instructions and the equipment necessary to accomplish the goal. The targeted area is within walking distance.
