The Livermore Police Department announced the arrest of a man responsible for more than 40 commercial burglaries since September 2024.
According to Livermore police, after a months-long investigation, Livermore Police have identified and arrested a suspect responsible for a major burglary ring that targeted commercial businesses, plumbing companies, auto shops, construction companies, and trucking businesses across the city.
Since September 2024, Livermore businesses have been impacted by more than 40 commercial burglaries, primarily in industrial areas of town.
The suspects carried out multiple burglaries per night, stealing vehicles, tools, and equipment worth thousands of dollars.
Their methods included:
- Burglarizing victim vehicles
- Stealing cars and trucks
- Crashing stolen trucks through roll-up doors to gain entry
In November 2024, Livermore Police responded to an alarm activation at a business, leading to a vehicle pursuit with the suspect. The chase ended when the vehicle was abandoned in Pleasanton. Through gathered evidence, investigators identified the suspect as 36-year-old Oscar Barcenas Gonzalez of Oakland.
In January 2025, Gonzalez was arrested by Oakland Police on a Livermore Police’s Ramey Warrant after being caught committing another vehicle theft in Oakland.
Between September and December 2024, Gonzalez is believed to be responsible for the majority of commercial burglaries in Livermore and has been linked to similar crimes throughout the Bay Area.
On February 15, 2025, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office charged Gonzalez with 295 counts, primarily for commercial and vehicle burglaries, with various enhancements.
