One person is dead and another was injured in a Friday crash in the City of Martinez.
On March 7th, 2025, at approximately 6:38 p.m., the Martinez Police Department received several calls regarding a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of Alhambra Avenue and Elderwood Drive/Glenview Drive.
Simultaneously, the Pleasant Hill Police Department also received several calls about the incident. Pleasant Hill PD and Martinez PD responded to the scene of the collision. First Aid was administered until personnel from the Contra Costa Fire District and AMR arrived on scene and took over care.
One of the involved drivers succumbed to injuries at the scene of the collision, while the other driver was transported to John Muir Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
A fatal vehicle collision investigation is underway. At this time, it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision.

Pleasant Hill Police Department issues Alert
At 7:06 pm Friday, Pleasant Hill PD issued the following notice for drivers to avoid the area
AVOID ALHAMBRA AVE AT ELDERWOOD DR UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE due to traffic incident. Some roads closed.
Pleasant Hill advises you to AVOID Alhambra Ave at Elderwood Dr due to a current traffic issue. A vehicle crash near Alhambra Ave and Elderwood Dr has closed Alhambra Ave and will require a detour of traffic until further notice.
