Feb 9–15: El Cerrito Police Calls

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito police calls between February 9-15 according to the  El Cerrito Police Department.

February 9th 

  • Driving Under the Influence / Suspended License – San Pablo Ave. / Carlson Blvd:  At 2:02 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During a DUI investigation, officers found the driver to be under the influence. Officers conducted a records check of the driver and discovered the driver had a suspended license. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and released with a citation to a sober friend.
  • Attempt Vehicle Theft – 700 block of Ashbury Ave. At 3:38 PM, a victim reported four juveniles attempted to steal their vehicle but were interrupted by a neighbor when the vehicle’s alarm sounded.

February 10th

  • Stolen Vehicle – 500 block of Albemarle St. At 2:30 PM, the victim reports vehicle was stolen sometime last night.
  • Commercial Burglary – 7007 Moeser Lane. (El Cerrito Community Center): At 3:07 AM, officers responded to an alarm call and detained a subject who was attempting to steal items. The subject was identified and released from the scene.

February 11th

  • Shoplifting – 10566 San Pablo Ave. (Yaoyo-San Japanese Market). At 7:19 PM, the suspect entered the business and stole an item. The suspect fled prior to police arrival.
  • Warrant Arrest / Drug Paraphernalia – San Pablo Ave. / Waldo Ave. At 2:39 AM, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop. During the investigation, officers found the subject to have an outstanding warrant. During a search incident to arrest, the subject was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia.  The subject was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released with a citation.

February 12th

  • Grand Theft – 7100 Block of Donal: At 12:53 PM, an officer reports suspect(s) stole copper wire from the area sometime overnight.
  • Indecent Exposure / Shoplift – 7000 El Cerrito Plaza (Daiso): At 13:57 PM, an officer reports a suspect exposed themselves and inappropriately touched themselves. The suspect then fled the store with unpaid merchandise prior to police arrival.
  • Vandalism – 6500 Donal Ave. At 6:24 PM, the victim reported a suspect damaged property inside the complex.
  • Warrant Arrest – Central Ave. / Yosemite Ave. At 9:14 PM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During the investigation, officers found the driver to have an outstanding warrant.  The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and later released with a citation.
  • Grand Theft – Arlington Blvd. / Madera Dr. At 4:47 AM, an officer located cut power lines and stolen copper from a power pole.

February 13th

  • Nothing to report.

February 14th

  • Grand Theft – Donal Ave. / Norvell St. At 1:38 PM, an officer reports theft of copper from a power pole.
  • Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave. / Carlson Blvd. At 1:43 PM, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop. During an investigation, officers found the subject to have two outstanding warrants. The subject was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
  • Shoplifting – 2000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky): At 5:51 PM, an officer reports a suspect exited the store with unpaid merchandise, prior to police arrival.
  • Possession of a Stolen Vehicle / Fleeing from a Peace Officer / Hit and Run – Arlington Blvd. / Barrett Ave. At 9:47 PM, officers received a FLOCK alert advising that a stolen vehicle had entered into city limits. An officer located the vehicle and the driver of the vehicle sped away from the officer. The officer pursued the vehicle for approximately three blocks where the suspect vehicle collided into a parked vehicle. The suspect exited the vehicle and attempted to run from the officers but was detained and taken into custody. The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and issued a Juvenile Citation before being released to parents.

February 15th

  • Brandishing an Imitation Firearm – San Pablo Ave. / Carlson Blvd. At 9:01 AM, officers accepted the Citizen’s Arrest of a suspect who brandished a replica firearm at another person. The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released with a citation.
  • Robbery – 6800 Block of Hagen Blvd. At 11:52 PM, an officer reported suspects had entered the victim’s home through an unlocked door. The suspects woke up the victims and demanded money before fleeing the scene prior to officers’ arrival.
