Contra Costa Firefighters Respond to Downed Aircraft

On Saturday, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to a report of a plane that landed in a field near Vasco Road at Camino Diablo.

The incident began around 11:50 am of a possible plane crash near Armstrong and Falcon near the Byron Airport, however, it the location was changed to Vasco Road which shutdown traffic while crews responded to the area. They soon located the plane which had safely landed in a field. The plane had two occupants which were not injured in the crash. There was also no smoke or fire from the plane.

By 12:10 pm,  Confire was reporting no medical needed for occupants of plane. All additional units not on scene cancelled.

It was also reported that at the time of the emergency landing, a 16-year-old was also in the airplane as part of an event at the Byron Airport.

Helicopter Crash in Modesto

According to the Stanislaus County Sheriffs Office, a helicopter crash was confirmed at Modesto Reservoir earlier Saturday at approximately 10:57 am. The crash involved the pilot and one other individual. Both individuals are currently being transported to a hospital for treatment, with one individual sustaining major injuries. The helicopter involved in this incident is not affiliated with the Sheriff’s Office. As a result of the incident, the waterway at Modesto Reservoir has been closed for an undetermined amount of time. However, the park remains open for shore-based activities. Authorities are actively investigating the cause of the crash and will provide further updates as information becomes available.

No other information on either downed aircraft incident has been released from either agency in Contra Costa County or Stanislaus County.
