A female sustained injuries after speeding through the Antioch Marina parking lot due to a medical emergency before crashing into a bathroom in the City of Antioch.
The crash occurred Wednesday at 11:58 am when Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters were dispatched to a vehicle versus building (bathroom) with a female possibly trapped inside. Fire crews arrived on scene with the vehicle still in the bathroom and confirmed the female was still inside the vehicle. She was extricated out of the vehicle and transported to an area hospital with injuries–she is expected to recover.
The Antioch Police Department also responded to the scene to provide support during the incident along with City of Antioch representatives to investigate damage to the structure while firefighters worked to free the vehicle.
The City of Antioch installed the marina restrooms in the summer of 2019 at a cost of $425k—the project was first approved in 2007. The city also spent $70k to move a veterans memorial closer to the marina, however, with veterans unhappy with the memorial being in such close proximity to a restroom, it forced the city to add vegetation and other changes.
