The Lafayette Police Department is investigating a failed ATM theft attempt after an SUV rammed a CVS pharmacy early Thursday morning.
According to police, early Thursday morning officers responded to a 9-1-1 call from an alert delivery driver reporting a business in the 3600 block of Mt. Diablo Blvd., had just been rammed through the front doors in an attempt to steal the ATM. As the Officers were arriving two vehicles were fleeing and the stolen vehicle used to ram the store was left running in the parking lot. There were three to five masked suspects. Officers pursued the vehicles through the Caldecott Tunnel into Oakland but the pursuit was terminated.
