CHP Pursuit Into Pittsburg Results in Fatality

At least one person is dead, two others sustained major injuries in an overnight crash from a CHP pursuit into the City of Pittsburg.

Around 2:00 am Sunday, CHP was reportedly in pursuit of a vehicle on Highway 4 when the exited the Loveridge exit in the City of Pittsburg and headed south before making a turn onto Leland Road when it struck another vehicle killing the occupant. Both people in the suspect vehicle sustained major injuries and were transported to an area hospital.  Contra Costa County Fire confirmed two people were in critical condition.

Another witness confirmed the pursuit.

No details on the incident have been released by the California Highway Patrol (CHP), nor is the “want” known of why CHP was in pursuit of the vehicle or where it began.

The Pittsburg Police Department were not involved with the pursuit, however, Pittsburg police and the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office are assisting the CHP with the investigation.
