The Brentwood Police Department say a Walnut Creek man was sentenced to two years in prison for a role in a deadly shooting.
On July 15, 2023, 22-year-old Antonio Barajas of Walnut Creek was arrested for his involvement in a shooting that occurred at the 800 block of Marjoram Drive. Recently, Barajas was sentenced to two years in prison after being convicted of attempted second-degree robbery.
Editors Note: Police said in 2023 that Barajas was the surviving suspect in the robbery attempt that turned into a shoot out on Marjoram Drive and he was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for the following:
- Attempted Murder
- Attempted Robbery
- Conspiracy
- Assault w/ a Deadly Weapon
- False Imprisonment
- Discharging a firearm at an occupied vehicle
- Carrying a loaded firearm in public

Update: Brentwood Police Say 17-Year-Old Killed in Shootout During Robbery Attempt
The Brentwood Police Department says a 17-year-old is dead in a Friday night shootout which was the result of an attempted robbery in the 800 block of Marjoram Drive in the City of Brentwood.
According to police, while a group of people were leaving a home on Chili Court, two suspects; a 17 year-old male resident of Antioch, and a 20 year-old male resident of Walnut Creek attempted to rob a 21 year-old male resident of Antioch, while all three were armed.
All three exchanged gunfire on Marjoram Drive, striking the 17 year-old suspect and 21 year-old victim. The 20 year-old suspect was not injured. Three firearms were recovered at the scene.
The 17 year-old was transported to an area hospital and remains in critical condition. The 21 year-old victim sustained non-life threatening injuries. (UPDATE – Brentwood police say the 17-year-old has died)
All names are being withheld at this time and there remains no threat to public safety. The investigation is ongoing and no additional information is being released at this time.
