Oakley Man Arrested in Connection to Livermore Shooting

The Livermore Police Department announced the arrest of an Oakley man in connection to a March shooting.

According to police, following a weeks-long investigation, Livermore Police have identified and arrested the suspect responsible for a March 11 shooting, believed to have stemmed from a road-rage incident.

The shooting occurred just before 5 p.m. on March 11, 2025, near North Vasco Road and Dalton Avenue. Officers arrived on scene and found one victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital and is currently recovering.

The roadway was closed for several hours as officers processed the scene and collected evidence.

Through a thorough investigation, Livermore Police’s Criminal Investigations Bureau identified the suspect as 26-year-old Demarionte Smith of Oakley.

With the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force, Smith was taken into custody on April 1, 2025, in Seattle, Washington. He was arrested on charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

Investigators believe Smith fled to Seattle following the incident to stay with family members. He is currently awaiting extradition back to California.
