Brentwood, CA – The Brentwood City Council has unanimously appointed Darin Gale as Interim City Manager, effective immediately. In conjunction with this appointment, Sukari Beshears has been named Interim Assistant City Manager, ensuring continuity and leadership as the City Council begins its recruitment for the next City Manager.

Darin Gale brings with him a wealth of public service experience, having held leadership roles in a number of cities in Northern California.  His background in economic development, strategic planning, and community engagement positions him well to guide Brentwood during this interim period.

“We are confident that Darin’s leadership will provide stability and momentum as we move forward,” said Mayor Susannah Meyer.  “His proven track record and collaborative approach here in Brentwood make him the right choice to lead our City organization at this time.”

In support of Mr. Gale’s interim appointment, Sukari Beshears will step into the role of Interim Assistant City Manager. Ms. Beshears has over 33 years of local government experience and has served the City of Brentwood for over 8 years as the Director of Human Resources/Risk Manager, bringing strong institutional knowledge, visionary leadership, commitment to inclusive governance, and organizational strategy to her new role.

“City Council is in full support of Sukari in this expanded leadership role,” continued Meyer. “We look forward to working with both Darin and Sukari in their interim capacities, through this transition and into a strong future for the City.”

The City Council will publically announce their recruitment process for the next City Manager in the coming weeks. In the meantime, both Mr. Gale and Ms. Beshears are committed to maintaining high-quality services and ensuring transparency and communication with the community.
