The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito police calls between March 23-April 16 according to the  El Cerrito Police Department.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

March 23rd

  • Grand Theft – 1400 block of Donal Ave. At 8:59 AM, an officer reports the theft of copper wire from two locations on the block.
  • Vehicle Theft – 500 block of Lexington Ave.  At 1:45 PM, the victim reported their vehicle was stolen sometime between 12:30 AM and 12:30 PM on 3/23/2025.
  • Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 11565 San Pablo Ave. (Walgreens Parking Lot): At 12:54 AM, an officer located an unoccupied stolen vehicle reported to the Vallejo Police Department.

March 24th

  • Public Intoxication / Arrest Warrant – Ohlone Greenway / Hill St. At 1:05 PM, an officer contacted a subject for drinking alcohol in public. During the investigation, officers found the subject had two warrants for their arrest.  The subject was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

March 25th

  • Attempted Burglary – 10770 San Pablo Ave. (Stiiizy): At 6:47 AM, Officers were dispatched an audible alarm. Upon arrival, officers discovered a window to the business had been shattered in an attempt to burglarize the business.
  • Stolen Vehicle – 1700 block of Walnut St.  At 7:39 AM, the victim reported their vehicle stolen sometime overnight.
  • Stolen Vehicle – 5700 Block of San Diego St. At 4:30 AM, the victim reported their vehicle stolen sometime overnight.

March 26th

  • Petty Theft – 6000 El Cerrito Plaza (Marshalls): At 8:27 PM, an officer reports a suspect entered the business, stole items, and fled the store without paying.  The suspect fled prior to police arrival.

March 27th

  • Petty Theft – 11545 San Pablo Ave. (Ross): At 8:15 PM, an officer reports that the suspect entered the business, stole items, and fled the store without paying.  The suspect fled prior to police arrival.
  • Grand Theft – 11565 San Pablo Ave. (Walgreens): At 2:18 AM, an officer reports the theft of construction materials sometime between 3/17/2025 – 3/27/2025.

March 28th

  • Shoplift – 670 El Cerrito Plaza (CVS):  At 8:38 AM, an officer reports a suspect stole merchandise and kicked over a magazine rack on their way out.
  • Attempted Burglary / Vandalism – 9800 San Pablo Ave. (Wells Fargo):  At 10:14 AM, the victim reports they were backing out of a parking stall when the suspect vehicle blocked the victim’s vehicle in from behind. The suspect exited their vehicle and shattered the victim’s right rear window while unsuccessfully trying to take the purse from the victim’s seat.
  • Theft – 200 Block of Carmel Ave. At 6:00 PM, an officer reports a suspect stole the license plate from the victim’s vehicle.
  • Tampering with a Vehicle – 5600 Block of Ludwig Ave. At 6:58 PM, an officer reports two suspects shattered the front passenger window to the victim’s vehicle to gain entry, but did not take any property.
  • Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Ave. / Schmidt Ln. At 11:56 PM, officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During a DUI investigation, officers found the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and released with a citation to a sober relative.

March 29th

  • Burglary – 1300 block of Liberty St. At 10:34 AM, an officer reports a suspect had gained entry into the victim’s vacant residence. No loss was reported.
  • Theft – 10900 San Pablo Ave. At 11:19 AM, officers were flagged down in the back lot regarding a gift card scam.  The victim was scammed into purchasing gift cards, but was not able provide the information about the suspect.
  • Robbery / Shoplift – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky) / 2000 El Cerrito Plaza (Ross):  At 12:22 PM, officers were dispatched to a report of several Lucky employees holding a shoplifter down in the parking lot. During the confrontation, the suspect struck and spat on Lucky employees while committing the theft. During the investigation, officers found the suspect also stole merchandise from Ross, prior to the theft from Lucky. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
  • Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 6400 Cutting Blvd. At 2:02 PM, an officer recovered an unoccupied stolen vehicle.
  • Petty Theft – 2200 block of Scenic St. At 12:26 PM, an officer reports a package was stolen off their porch sometime during the day.

March 30th

  • Grand Theft – Arlington Blvd. / Club View Ln.  At 7:00 AM, an officer reports suspect(s) stole copper wire sometime overnight.
  • Vandalism – 700 block of Norvell St.  At 2:29 hours, an officer reports a suspect threw a rock through the front window of the residence between 7:00 PM on 3/29/2025 and 7:00 AM on 3/30/2025.
  • Recovered Stolen Vehicle – Wall Ave. / San Pablo Ave. At 7:02 PM, an officer received a FLOCK notification for a stolen vehicle. The officer circulated the area and located the stolen vehicle unoccupied. The vehicle was released on scene.
  • Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave. / Hill St. At 7:16 PM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During the investigation, officers found the driver to have an active warrant for their arrest. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

March 31st

  • Warrant Arrest – 11755 San Pablo Ave. (El Cerrito Honda): At 12:04 AM, officers were dispatched to the business for a report of a suspicious person camping on the property. Upon arrival, officers contacted the subject and discovered the subject had an active parole warrant. The subject was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
  • Vehicle Theft – 11847 San Pablo Ave. (Antonio’s Garage):  At 9:07 AM, an officer reports a suspect rented a tow dolly and failed to return it at the agreed time.
  • Residential Burglary – 1300 Block of Linda Vista Dr. At 1:20 AM, an officer reports a suspect entered the victim’s and stole property prior to police arrival.

April 1st

  • Shoplifting / Obstructing a Peace Officer / Warrant Arrest – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
    At 7:36 AM, the suspect stole items and was confronted outside by store employees.  Employees flagged down officers regarding the theft.  The suspect attempted to walk away, and pulled his arm away from the officer. Officers quickly detained the suspect. During the investigation, officers found the suspect had multiple warrants for their arrest.  The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
  • Stolen License Plates – 10650 San Pablo Ave. (24-Hour Fitness Parking Lot): At 9:03 AM, the victim reports that their license plate was stolen off their vehicle.
  • Home Invasion Robbery /  Theft from Auto / Auto Burglary / Attempted Auto Burglary / Providing False Identification to a Peace Officer /  Possession of Burglary Tools / Warrant Arrest – 2000 block of Junction Ave. At 4:40 PM, a suspect entered the victim’s vehicle and stole the key to the residence. The suspect then entered the victim’s residence and ordered the victim’s family out of the house. The suspect stole items from inside the house and fled prior to police arrival. Officers located the suspect fleeing the area on foot and detained them. The victim positively identified the suspect, and their property still found in the suspect’s possession. During the investigation, officers found the suspect was on parole for kidnapping and had an active warrant for a parole violation.  The suspect was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
  • Recovered Stolen Plate / Stolen Plate – Stockton Ave. / Norvell St.  At 12:36 AM, officers located a parked vehicle with a stolen license plate.  The owner of the vehicle was contacted and realized the license plate that belonged to the vehicle had been stolen and replaced with a stolen license plate.
  • Warrant Arrest – 10636 San Pablo Ave. (24-Hour Fitness): At 12:34 AM, officers conducted a suspicious vehicle check. During the investigation, officers found the driver had several outstanding warrants for their arrest. The subject was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

April 2nd

  • Domestic Battery / Prevent Person from Calling 911 – 10700 block of San Pablo Ave. At 7:12 AM, the victim reports that during a verbal argument, the suspect ripped the phone from the victim’s hand as the victim was calling 911. Officers arrived on scene and arrested the suspect. The suspect was then booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
  • Grand Theft – Liberty St. / Waldo Ave. At 7:26 AM, the victim reports their catalytic converter was stolen sometime overnight.
  • Grand Theft – 900 Block of Liberty St. At 6:00 PM, the victim reports their catalytic converter was stolen sometime overnight.
  • Auto Burglary – 5800 Block of San Diego St. At 1:36 AM, the victim reports their vehicle was broken into, and items inside were stolen.

April 3rd 

  • Grand Theft – 800 block of Elm St. At 9:39 AM, the victim reports that their catalytic converter was stolen from their vehicle.

April 4th

  • Petty Theft – 500 block of Norvell St.  At 1:48 PM, an officer reports a suspect entered an unlocked vehicle and stole property sometime between 6:00 PM on 04/03/2025 and 9:00 AM on 04/04/2025.
  • Petty Theft / Possession of a Drug Paraphernalia – San Pablo Ave. / Central Ave. At 6:30 PM, an officer reports a victim had left their property on a bus bench when a suspect took it. The victim’s mother was able to “ping” the property at a nearby park and retrieved the item from the suspect. The victim wanted to press charges and called the police. Officers arrived on scene and arrested the suspect. During a search incident to arrest, the suspect was found to be in possession of a glass pipe used for smoking methamphetamine. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.

April 5th

  • Warrant Arrest – 2000 El Cerrito Plaza (Ross):  At 10:44 PM, officers were dispatched to the area for a suspicious person. Upon arrival, officers contacted the subject and discovered the subject had an active citable warrant for their arrest. The subject was arrested and issued a citation for the warrant on scene

April 6th 

  • Theft – 400 block of Norvell St. At 9:54 AM, an officer reports a theft of the victim’s bicycle.

April 7th

  • Theft – Kearney St. / Wall Ave. At 11:17 AM, the victim reported their license plates were stolen sometime overnight.
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Warrant Arrest – 6000 El Cerrito Plaza: At 1:20 PM, officers reported a theft in progress from the business. Officers arrived on scene and located the suspect. During a search incident to arrest, the suspect was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. Further investigation found the driver had a warrant for their arrest. The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
  • Shoplifting – 11545 San Pablo Ave. (Ross): At 8:33 PM, an officer reports a suspect stole items from the business and fled the area prior to police arrival.
  • Vandalism – 11161 & 11163 San Pablo Ave. (Flo Hair Studios & Plank + Power): At 5:34 AM, an officer reports a suspect threw an object at the windows of each business, causing damage.

April 8th

  • Theft – 1600 block of Kearney St. At 12:00 PM, the victim reports their front license plate was stolen off their vehicle sometime overnight.
  • Warrant Arrest – 10458 San Pablo Ave. At 5:14 AM, officers conducted a pedestrian stop. During the investigation, officers found the subject to have a warrant for their arrest. The subject was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

April 9th

  • Warrant Arrest / Possession of Stolen Property – San Pablo Ave. / Eastshore Blvd. At 11:19 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During the investigation, officers discovered the driver had an outstanding warrant for their arrest. Further investigation led the officers to locate stolen property from a recent Burglary in Richmond. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
  • Shoplifting / Theft with Prior Convictions – 6000 El Cerrito Plaza (Marshalls): At 9:10 PM, a suspect stole items from the business and fled without paying. Officers later located, positively identified, and placed the suspect under arrest.  The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
  • Battery on a Peace Officer / Possession of a Concealed Weapon / Obstruction / Possession of Narcotics / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia / Probation Violation / Warrant Arrest – 10300 San Pablo Ave. At 12:55 AM, officers responded to an unwanted subject loitering inside of an apartment complex. During the investigation, officers found the subject had an outstanding warrant for their arrest while being on felony probation. The subject attempted to flee on foot from officers but was later detained after a brief struggle. During a search incident to arrest, officers found the subject to be possession of a concealed weapon, narcotics, and drug paraphernalia. The subject was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
  • Warrant Arrest – Lincoln Ave. / San Pablo Ave. At 12:18 PM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During the investigation, officers found the driver had an outstanding warrant. The driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Matinez Detention Facility.
  • Auto Burglary – El Cerrito Plaza: At 1:15, an officer reports a suspect shattered a window of the victim’s vehicle and stole property.

April 10th
At 1:50 PM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During the investigation, officers discovered the driver had two active warrants for their arrest. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

April 11th

  • Vehicle Burglary – 5300 Block of Cypress Ave. At 7:15 AM, an officer reports a suspect broke into the victim’s vehicle and stole property sometime between 6:00 PM on 04/10/2025 – 7:15 AM on 04/11/2025.
  • Shoplifting – 11565 San Pablo Ave. (Walgreens): At 1:18 PM, an officer reports a suspect stole merchandise and fled the area prior to police arrival.

April 12th

  • Public Intoxication / Disobeying a Peace Officer/ Minor in Possession of Alcohol – Ohlone Greenway / Oak St.
    At 9:45 PM, officers responded to the area and located a subject who appeared to be heavily intoxicated. The subject refused to identify themselves and attempted to walk away from officers. The subject was then placed under arrest and searched. During a search incident to arrest, a backpack belonging to the subject was located containing a bottle of alcohol. The subject was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

April 13th

  • Residential Burglary – 1100 Block of Brewster Dr. At 11:30 PM, an officer reports a suspect entered the victim’s residence and stole property sometime between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM on 04/12/2025.
  • Burglary – 11000 Block of San Pablo Ave. At 12:45 PM, an officer reports a suspect stole the victim’s electric bicycle between 7:00 PM on 04/10/2025  – 3:00 PM on 04/13/2025.
  • Trespass – 1500 Block of Madera Ct. At 4:29 PM, officers were dispatched to a residence regarding a trespassing in process. Officers arrived on scene and located the subject. The subject was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

April 14th

  • Petty Theft – 3200 Block of Santa Clara Ave. At 10:08 AM, an officer reports a suspect stole the victim’s registration tabs from the victim’s license plate sometime between 04/08/2025 – 04/14/2025.
  • Grand Theft – 6500 Block of Stockton Ave. At 1:50 PM, an officer reports a suspect stole the victim’s electric bicycle from of the victim’s backyard sometime between 7:00 PM on 04/13/2025 – 10:00 PM on 04/14/2025.
  • Robbery – 11450 San Pablo Ave. (Safeway): At 3:58 PM, officers were dispatched for a disconnected 9-1-1. Upon arrival, officers learned that a suspect brandished a knife at security after being confronted about stealing merchandise. The suspect fled the store prior to police arrival.
  • Organized Retail Theft – 10650 San Pablo Ave. (Auto Zone): At 5:30 PM, an officer reports two suspects entered the supply room of the business and stole items. The suspects then struck the victim before fleeing the area.
  • Battery – 3499 Santa Clara Ave. (Creekside Park): At 8:54 PM, an officer reports a suspect walked up to the victim and yelled at them not to return. The suspect then struck the victim before fleeing the area.

April 15th

  • Auto Burglary – 6009 Potrero Ave. (Hotel Mira Vista Parking Lot): At 12:10 AM, the victim reports that their vehicle window was shattered and items left inside were stolen.
  • Vandalism – 4010 El Cerrito Plaza. At 2:07 AM, the officer reports a window was shattered to the business.
  • False Identification to Police Officer / Probation Violation – 400 block of  Lexington Ave. At 2:14 AM, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop. During the investigation, the subject provided several false names. Officers were able to positively identify the suspect and found the suspect to be on probation. The subject was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released with a citation.

April 16th

  • Auto Burglary – 6300 block of Fairmount Ave. At 7:16 AM, the victim reported the windows of their vehicle shattered and items left inside the vehicle were stolen.
  • Fraud  – 10900 San Pablo Ave. (ECPD): At 11:00 AM, the victim reports that their credit card was found to have fradulent charges.
  • Theft  – 11600 San Pablo Ave. (Mayfair Station): At 5:54 PM, an officer reports the theft of a bicycle.
  • Trespassing / Resisting Arrest / Probation Violation – 11645 San Pablo Ave. (Freeway Motel): At 11:12 PM, officers were dispatched to a report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, officers contacted the subject who then resisted arrest. During the investigation, officers discovered the subject to be on probation. The subject was arrested and booked at the El Cerrito Police Department. While at the Police Department, the subject experienced a medical episode. ECFD and AMR responded to render aid for the subject. The subject was then released to AMR, who transported the subject to a local hospital.

April 17th

  • Warrant Arrest – Moeser Ln. / Lexington Ave. At 9:51 AM, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop. During the investigation, officers found the subject to have an outstanding felony warrant. The subject was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to Martinez Detention Facility.
  • Shoplifting – 2000 El Cerrito Plaza (Ross): At 2:35 PM, an officer reports the suspect entered the business and stole items. The suspect fled the area prior to police arrival.
  • Warrant Arrest – Potrero Ave. / South 53rd St. At 3:57 PM, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop. During the investigation, officers discovered the subject had an outstanding out of county warrant. The subject was arrested and released with a citation on scene.

April 18th

  • Illegal Burning – 11150 San Pablo Ave. (St. John the Baptist Catholic Church): At 8:38 AM, a suspect lit a small cooking fire in the rear parking lot of the church.
  • Burglary – 6600 block of Hill St. At 8:49 AM, an officer reports a suspect entered the residence and stole property sometime overnight.
  • Recovered Stolen Vehicle – Kenilworth Ave. / Cutting Blvd.  At 2:09 PM, officers recovered a vehicle that was reported stolen.
  • Robbery – 10560 San Pablo Ave. (Jay Vee Liquors): At 11:05 PM, the victim was approached by the suspect who brandished a firearm and demanded the victim’s wallet. The victim was shoved to the ground and the suspect fled the area prior to police arrival.
  • Defrauding an Innkeeper – 11344 San Pablo Ave. (Denny’s): At 2:20 AM, the officer reports the suspect entered the business and helped themselves to beverages. The suspect fled the business with the beverages without paying. Officers located and positively identified the suspect. The suspect was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

April 19th

  • Vandalism – 1700 block of Elm St. At 11:06 AM, an officer reports a suspect shattered the sunroof of the victim’s vehicle sometime overnight.
  • Vandalism – 6800 block of Glen Mawr Ave.  At 11:57 AM, a suspect damaged property and fled the area prior to police arrival.
  • Trespassing – 1300 block of Richmond St. At 6:03 PM, a victim report suspect entered their residential backyard. The suspect was located and found to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. The suspect was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to Martinez Detention Facility.
  • Brandishing – 11299 San Pablo Ave. (Western Dental): At 6:47 PM, a suspect entered the business and threatened employees with a firearm. The suspect fled the area but later returned. Officers were able to locate and positively identify the suspect. The suspect was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
  • Auto Burglary – 6000 block of Portola Dr. At 2:10 AM, a victim reports their window of their vehicle was shattered and items inside stolen.
