The Oakley Police Department is investigating a fatal vehicle versus pedestrian crash that occurred overnight within the City of Oakley.
According to the City of Oakley, on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at 11:00 PM, Oakley police officers were dispatched to the report of a motor vehicle collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian on Main Street near Sandy Lane. Officers arrived on scene and found the pedestrian on the roadway with heavy trauma.
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and was cooperative. The driver was taken to the police department for alcohol testing and a blood draw. The driver provided a full statement and was released from the police department pending further investigation/toxicology results. Several witnesses provided information that the pedestrian had been in the middle of the roadway and couldn’t be seen due to darkness. It is believed the pedestrian was unhoused and living in and around the area of where this collision occurred.
Oakley Police said they were withholding the identification of the pedestrian pending the notification of the next of kin.
