The Peter Pan Foundation’s “Wish Upon a Star” Returns Memorial Day Weekend

Press Release

by CC News

Lafayette, CA, – For 19 years, The Peter Pan Foundation (PPF) has enchanted audiences and uplifted communities with its signature production, Wish Upon a Star (WUAS). This Memorial Day Weekend, the beloved show returns for its 18th year, with more magic, more music, and more heart than ever before. Held annually at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, WUAS continues to be a cherished tradition for families across the Bay Area.

Wish Upon a Star is not your average musical. A dazzling original mashup of Disney favorites and inspirational pop hits, the production brings together more than 200 performers – from tiny fairies and teens to seasoned adult vocalists – in a joyful, high-energy celebration of story and song.

With performers ranging from elementary-school age to retirees, including those who are Deaf, LGBTQ+, and neurodivergent, Wish Upon a Star is a shining example of what inclusive, community-centered theatre can look like. Among the standout performers is Noelle Wilder, a Deaf dancer and choreographer who takes on the iconic role of Tinkerbell while also providing live ASL interpretation for matinee performances – ensuring accessibility for Deaf and hearing audiences alike.

“Being a part of PPF has been a transformative experience for me and my Deaf students who come and watch our shows,” says Noelle Wilder. “PPF has shown an unwavering commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for Deaf and Hard of Hearing performers and audience members like myself. I am excited and honored to be Tinkerbell and show our audiences the beauty of ASL and accessibility on stage.”

“Noelle’s performance is an especially inspiring piece of what makes this show so powerful, and working with them is always such an uplifting experience,” says PPF Founder and Artistic Director Leslie Noel Hansen. “Additionally, having a cast – and a foundation – filled with so many incredible humans representing the beauty of our diverse world…that is true magic.”
