The City of Antioch, in conjunction with the Bay Area Affordable Homeownership Alliance (BAAHA) and A-1 Housing Community Services (A-1 CHS) is conducting a workshop to introduce households that live and work in Antioch to the City’s beneficial first time home buyer program. The virtual zoom workshop will be held from 6:00pm to 7:30pm on Thursday May 22, 2025.
The Antioch Home Ownership Program (AHOP) is structured to assist low to moderate income first time homebuyers to purchase a home in Antioch. AHOP will provide the following valuable first time homebuyer resources.
- Down Payment Assistance Subsidies – Eligible low to moderate income first time homebuyer residents and workforce could receive up to $60,000 through the City AHOP; and up to an additional $40,000 provided through partnering organizations. AHOP purchase subsidies can either increase the purchase power and/or decrease the cost of ownership for eligible first time homebuyers. AHOP subsidies can only be applied to purchase a home in Antioch.
- Homebuyer Education and Counseling – a HUD approved non-profit homebuyer education and counseling organization will be delivering free homebuyer education and counseling to Antioch’s residents and workforce. Education and counseling is structured to assist homebuyers establish a stronger understanding of the requirements, steps, and capacity for households to purchase a home. A homebuyer education and counseling certificate of completion must be provided by a HUD approved education provider prior to a homebuyer receiving AHOP subsidies.
The AHOP introductory workshop will provide additional details on:
- AHOP Resources and Subsidies – directed towards assisting low to moderate income first time homebuyers to purchase a home in Antioch
- AHOP Participation Guidelines – an overview of Program requirements and guidelines to receive access to AHOP resources and subsidies
- Next Steps – for eligible first time homebuyers to take in order to access AHOP’s beneficial homebuyer resources
Workshop presenters will include:
- City of Antioch – housing staff will introduce the AHOP program
- Bay Area Affordable Homeownership Alliance (BAAHA) – the City’s contracted AHOP administrator will provide additional information on AHOP and the steps required to become an AHOP participant.
- A-1 Community Housing Services – a representative will provide information on HUD approved required AHOP homebuyer education; and on financial and homebuyer counseling available for eligible Antioch residents and workforce.
- First Citizens Bank (FCB) – an FCB CRA Director will provide information on additional subsidies that are made available to AHOP participants through FCB and the Federal Home Loan Bank grants.
