Updated: Man Killed in Industrial Accident in Brentwood

The Brentwood Police Department is investigating a fatal accident involving heavy equipment Monday afternoon.

At approximately 3:35 pm, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District responded to a report of a person that was run over by paving equipment they were taking off a trailer at Dainty Avenue at Walnut Blvd in the city of Brentwood. Fire crews responded and immediately requested a medical helicopter to the scene, however, he was pronounced at the scene.

According to Brentwood Lt. Miguel Aguiar, he confirmed there was a paving accident where workers were moving equipment, and a worker was injured. He offered no other details on the incident as it was still active.

According to witnesses, it was stated that it was the workers first day on the job.  The company involved was identified as Golobe & Son Asphalt Paving. The deceased male was in his 50’s. Cal/OSHA arrived on scene several hours later to investigate.

Brentwood Police have released no additional details on the incident.

8:30 pm UPDATE:

The Brentwood Police Department issued clarifying information: “The 54-year-old male worker, from Petaluma, was working as part of an asphalt repaving project in an adjacent parking lot. He was severally injured due the industrial accident involving a skid loader, and he succumb to his injuries on scene. The incident is being actively investigated,” said Lt. Aguiar.

Tuesday Update: INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

On May 5, 2025, at approximately 3:30 PM, Brentwood officers were dispatched to the 3900 block of Walnut Blvd for a report of an industrial accident involving a 54-year-old male who had become pinned by a large piece of machinery while working.

Officers from the Brentwood Police Department, Fire Department, and AMR responded quickly and performed life-saving measures. Tragically, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

At this time, the incident appears to be a tragic accident. No other individuals were injured.

The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office and Cal/OSHA are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
