On Thursday morning, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District rescued one victim from a smoke filled home in the City of Oakley.
The fire was first reported at approximently 10:15 am in the 400 block of Beaulieu Lane when a neighbor saw smoke coming from the garage and knocked on the door and did not recieve an answer. Upon arrivial, Contra Costa County firefighters confirmed brown smoke coming from the garage and immediately requested a second alarm response due to a possible rescue involving a “special needs” individual inside. A short-time later, fire crews located the person inside the home and took him to safety.
Fire crews made quick work of the fire which was located in the garage, limiting it to the garage area/laundry room. The fire was deemed knocked down and out by 10:33 am. The victim was transpoted by AMR to an area hospital for treatment.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
