The Fairfield Police Department shot an armed carjacking suspect Sunday morning in the City of Fairfield.

This morning, May 18, shortly after 5:00 a.m., Flock cameras in the City of Fairfield alerted to a vehicle involved in a possible carjacking out of Vacaville.

The suspects were reportedly armed, and fired eight rounds at the victim, who was not struck.

Following several additional Flock hits, Fairfield police officers located the carjacked vehicle within city limits, in the area of Dover Avenue and East Tabor Avenue.

Two men exited the vehicle and were engaged by a Fairfield police officer. Upon contact, one man ran while the other continued walking.

The officer issued commands to the remaining man, who was armed with a handgun. The man ignored commands, pointing his firearm at the officer. The officer responded, firing at the man who sustained at least one gun shot wound.

Responding officers rendered medical aid at the scene, and the man was transported to a local hospital. He is expected to survive. No officers were injured during this incident.

The second man was apprehended by officers and a K9 unit.

The Solano County Officer-Involved Incident Protocol Team responded and assumed the investigation. All inquiries regarding this incident and the ongoing investigation, should be directed to the Solano County District Attorney’s Office.
