Hercules Police Arrest Tip Jar Thief

The Hercules Police Department announced that a tip jar thief was arrested thanks to Flock camera notification,

On May 16, 2025, at 8:49 PM, officers were dispatched to Mazatlan Taqueria for a report of a theft. The suspect recognized by the employee as a regular entered the restaurant wearing a medical mask covering his face. The suspect stole the tip jar containing approximately $200. When confronted outside by the employee, the suspect made a threatening motion toward his waistband, causing the employee to fear for her safety. The suspect fled in a sliver Nissan Murano.

According to police, through diligent investigation, officers were able to identify the suspect, a male out of Hercules, who was currently on Postrelease Community Supervision (PRCS)and had an outstanding warrant. A sequential photo lineup was conducted, and the employee positively identified the suspect.

Later that evening, officers received a Flock camera notification that led officers to the suspect vehicle. After an attempt to evade, the suspect was taken into custody at his residence. Items of evidence were located in the vehicle, including clothing matching the robbery and a medical mask. The suspect was booked at MDF for robbery, his outstanding warrant, and PRCS violations.

Hercules police did not identify the suspect.
