Contra Costa Animal Services is participating in California Adopt-a-Pet Day on June 7.
The shelter will be open form 10:00 am to 5:00 pm (4800 Imhoff Pl, Martinez) with a fun filled day celebrating pets, community and passion. The event will feature an ice cream truck, dog nail trims, dog training demos, face painting, and information on pet care – along with local rescues on scene.
According to data provided by Contra Costa Animal Services, through April, they have had 526 adoptions (117 cats, 409 dogs and 10 other animals). To view available animals in Contra Costa County, click here.
According to the California Adopt-a-Pet Day website, multiple shelters unite across the state to help animals find loving homes. Last year, 3,609 pets were adopted during this special event! By adopting, you’re not only welcoming a new best friend into your life—you’re also supporting shelters and their lifesaving work.

CalAnimals, the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®), and the San Francisco SPCA have teamed up to promote the human-animal bond across California. As a result of this powerful partnership, California Adopt-a-Pet Day has been organized to raise awareness and make pet adoptions affordable and accessible. This event is the outcome of collaboration between leading organizations in animal welfare and aims to help 5,000 animals find loving homes.
