As I reflect on yesterday’s ICE activity at the Federal Immigration Court in Concord, I am appalled and deeply concerned that such enforcement actions are taking place in our community and across California. These actions create fear, undermine trust, and make it harder for individuals and families to access the support they need.
Everyone, regardless of immigration status, deserves access to basic legal representation, public services, and the dignity of due process. No one should have to choose between their safety and seeking help.
This is a difficult and unpredictable time for many in our community. I encourage everyone to take a moment to check in with friends, family, and neighbors. Take care of your mental and emotional well-being, and extend that care to those around you.
As a County, we remain committed to investing in the health, safety, and dignity of all people. We believe that everyone deserves to be treated with fairness and humanity—and we will continue to uphold those values.
